"A Foundation of Resilience for Leaders"

As a leader, if you are not resilient or focusing on your own self-care you cannot successfully support and lead your providers and team.

Our presenters will focus on a number of areas that as leaders we need awareness of ourselves in our work and personal lives, especially during times of stress. Our presenters will have the group use assessment tools and other activities to self-reflect on their current state and develop ideas and goals around increasing resiliency.

Sheila Giffen, MD
Executive Medical Director, Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance

Sheila Giffen, MD is an experienced Family Physician and Medical Director focused on strategic, innovative, high quality healthcare delivery. Originally from Twin Falls, Idaho, Dr. Giffen attended Stanford University as an undergraduate where she received her B.A. in Human Biology. Upon finding a passion for science and medicine, she pursued her medical degree at the University of Washington Medical School as a WAMI student and a National Health Service Corps Scholar. She completed her Family Practice Residency at the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho in 2001 and practiced in rural Ontario and Idaho at Valley Family Health Care for two years before joining Saint Alphonsus Medical Group in 2005.

She maintained her group practice until 2015 when she transitioned into Corporate Wellness to promote patient engagement with chronic disease treatment and prevention and to collaborate with Saint Alphonsus providers on practice support as the Resiliency Medical Director. She joined the Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance as the Executive Medical Director in early 2019 where she will continue focusing on clinical integration, quality care initiatives, physician engagement, and care management of high risk patients. Dr. Giffen resides in Boise and enjoys hiking, biking, camping, and other outdoor activities with her family.

Laura Landers, MBA
Operations Director, Saint Alphonsus Medical Group

Laura Landers is an Operations Director for Saint Alphonsus Medical Group, supporting multiple primary care clinics in Ada County, encompassing over 80 physicians and APPs. Laura has been with Saint Alphonsus for over 16 years, with increasing levels of responsibility. Her passion is supporting and educating colleagues on resiliency and tools to combat burnout.

Laura graduated from Boise State University in 2000 with a Bachelors in Psychology, and returned again to Boise State to complete a Masters in Business Administration in 2013. She currently serves as Membership Director on the Idaho Medical Group Management Association Board of Directors.
