"Difficult Patient Encounters"

Presented By:

Kathy Kenady, Senior Loss Prevention Representative, MIEC

Kathy Kenady is a risk management professional who prides herself on being a resource, educator, and advocate for physicians and medical practices. Kathy is the former Associate Director of the Alameda-Contra Costa Medical Association, a two-thousand member strong county medical society. She joined MIEC’s Loss Prevention team in 2005, where she has earned the unofficial title of “The HIPAA Queen.” Kathy is thrilled to have relocated to Boise in 2016, where she enjoys practicing archery and American Tribal Style belly dance.

Medical practices encounter challenging patient interactions everyday. From this presentation, learn about how to identify common "difficult" encounters and policies and procedures that can be implemented to increase patient satisfaction, increase staff confidence, and reduce the practice's liability. We will touch on communication skills, but focus primarily on "nuts and bolts" policies and procedures. Topics covered include:

•         Noncompliant patients
•         "Drug-seeking" patients
•         Parental issues/minor custody & consent
•         Documenting patient complaints
•         Responding to negative online reviews
•         Communication barriers

If you plan to join this educational event via webinar, please refer to the registration confirmation email sent at the end of the registration process for instructions and links on how to join the webinar. Please email us at idahomgma@gmail.com if you have any questions.
